The Los Angeles Softball Officials Association

Our associations goal is to train individuals to officiate high school softball games and to provide quality training for individuals who desire to officiate high school games in the Los Angeles Area in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. It is required that all persons who are interested in working high school games in this area, be a member of this association.

Our geographical area encompasses San Pedro to Eagle Rock and from Pacific Palisades to Bell.

Become an CSOA-LA Umpire

The California Softball Officials Association - Los Angeles (CSOA-LA) is actively seeking applicants for membership to begin officiating the sport of Softball. There are no specific requirements for becoming a member of the CSOA-LA, other than an appreciation of the game of Softball and a desire to learn the officiating profession. Prior experience as an umpire, while helpful, is not required.

New member wishing to Umpire for the 2020 High School season must attend the CIF Training sessions prior to the start of the high school season. Please check our Training page for scheduled dates and times.

New members are encouraged to attend all meetings, and are also required to attend training classes as well as pass the NFHS test. Members who participate in the training classes will be eligible to officiate sub-varsity high school games. As new members gain experience, they could be assigned to high school varsity games at various levels. Umpires transferring from other associations or states may be assigned high school varsity games depending on their level of experience and performance, as determined by the chapter's executive board.
